what kind of med orutis or orudis is used for? son has sinus infection use orutis or orudis. what is this used for?

OTC Orudis was discontinued about 6 months ago. Your best bet is to ask your Dr for a ketoprofen prescription, which is the same ingredient as Orudis only at a much higher dosage, along with a higher side effects profile. Orudis was 12.5 mg of ketoprofen.

I BOUGHT IT AT WALLGREENS DRUG STORE. IT IS SOLD OVER THE COUNTER IN 12.5MG TABLETS. IF YOU CAN'T FIND IT LOCALLY, YOU CAN GET IT ONLINE, BUT IT IS REALLY EXPENSIVE THAT WAY.
I asked my pharmacist about this yesterday. He said there is a problem with the manufacturing, and that no stores have it at this time. Hopefully soon we will have it back on the shelves.. Its one of the few OTC pain meds that do the job.
What can I give my 100 lb. lab for joint pain? I have always given Orudis, it's no longer available. Help!? I am looking for an over the counter pain medication for her. I do not want to pay 3 times the price for a "canine" pain med. I know there are medications out there for humans that dogs get the same effect. I just dont want to give her something that is going to kill her liver or kidneys. Thanks for the input!
Cosequin is a good pain reliever. The best one I know of though through a vet is Rimadyl. Why wouldn't you want te best for him?!

You are allowed to give your dog buffered asprin, just consult a vet on dosage. Also Glucosamine and Condrotin supplaments help, as well as slimming her down. Labs tend to be overweight and it works against them. You should be able to feel the ribs without appling pressure, feel the hip bones, have a nice tucked tummy, and feel the vertebrae down the back. This will greatly help with dysplasia. Also consider a strength/conditioning program of low impact exercise. This will help strengthen the muscles around the hips and help keep things in place. Depending on where you live there are places that offer underwater treadmills, chiropractic service, and acupuncture to help releave pain.
Do not know about over the counter, but get her started on a daily maintenance of glucosomen - I know that is spelled incorrectly, but hopefully you know what I mean. It does wonders for my golden.Good Luck.
You should drop some weight off her for starters. Get your vet to prescribe something and get the prescription filled at your local drugstore, The dispensing fee is cheaper at your drugstore, and the drugs themselves are usually far cheaper.

Over the counter medications are not always effective. You should go see a vet to discuss options. Although vet prescribed pain medication can have side effects, that only occurs when the medication is not being administered properly. The vet will prescribe the lowest effective dose possible to minimize the effects. In addition, annual blood tests are done to confirm that liver and kidney functions are normal. Occasionally, glucosamine and chondroitin are given in conjunction with the pain meds, but will not stop the pain when given on its own.
Glucosomine. We have used it on all our dogs who have had arthritis and bad joints. Wrap it in some cheese and your dog will willingly take it. You can even take it if something starts to hurt :)

I went through this several years ago with my older lab husky cross. Out vet recommended Glucosamine Chondroitin over the counter, for human use.There are pet versions of it available, but they are much more expensive and work in the same way.Keeping your dogs weight down is important, my dog loved to swim, so we made sure she went to the beach a few times a week. There are actually classes in swimming offered through many dog day cares and kennels now, just check with some of your local vets.When our dog was achy, she would love to see the GC bottle come out of the cabinet, she knew that it helped her. It is much more gentle on the liver and kidneys than a lot of the pain meds.When our dog would get achy in the cold during the winter, we would warm up some of those herbal wraps in the microwave, the ones that are made for headaches and backaches, just warm to the touch and she would love to lie down with them on her joints. You can get the same effect by filling a tube sock with rice, and warming that in the microwave. You can sew it closed or knot it if you leave enough material.Best of luck with your lab, they are fantastic dogs.
