Effectiveness of Intal (cromolyn sodium) used in a nebulizer? I cannot get Intal inhalers and most of the international on line pharmacies have discontinued Intal inhalers. I did find that my pharmacy carries Intal (Cromolyn sodium) solution for nebulizers and they are covered by my health plan. I do not know how effective this delivery system is, but I am willing to find out. Does anyone else know about the effectiveness of this delivery system? It is inconvenient, but I am willing to try it.

i use chromolyn eye drops for years!no drawback:i didn't know about the nasal spraythe eye drops burn a little bit,when i put them in my eye,it takes a few seconds and its over.my eyes itch a lot in spring, and the chromolyn is the best so far!(tried other eye drops)when i get a itchy tongue+ itchy palate/throat:i take Allegra tablets and they work(no sleepiness!)

You can substitute with Stinging nettles, Licorice root, Quercetib-Rutin and Flax oil. These have the potential to stabilize mast cells and control histamine levels to a natural response. Vitamin C is also recommended with zinc, however, you might fare well with Acerola cherry or camu camu which are effective ascorbic acid and are not buffered. Saw Plametto is also a good mast cell stabilizer. Note: if you are taking blood pressure medication, opt out for licorice root. Anyone take cromolyn or any other drug for exercise induced asthma? I have been reading some info on cromolyn and it says it helps prevent exercise induced asthma,has anyone tried this drug?I have allergy and exercise induced asthma I currently use symbicot,a rescue inhaler and singulair plus zyrtec.I exercise alot but really not as hard as I wish I could I know I could push myself alot more if it wasnt for this darn asthma! Im always having to take it slow or take a break because of wheezing or feeling out of breath or tire more eaisly than others.Im so frustrated with asthma! Would love to talk to anyone who has tried this drug or has had sucess with any other asthma drug to help prevent exercise induced asthma.Symbicort works really well its just when I exercise I have problems.
Cromolyn Sodium is generally a drug that has to build up a concentration in the body to be effective . this may take weeks to a couple of months . and you have to take it religiously . that being said . this drug is used to maintain the integrity of the mast cell . which when it degranulates causes a release of mediators that are known to cause bronchoconstriction/bronchospasm.If this is not the causative factor associated with your mediator release . it will not work . but it is worth a try to see if this is a source of your EIB . good luck .

I have been using two different prescription eye drops. One is a steroid called lotemax and the other is a mast cell stabilizer called Cromolyn sodium. Can i over medicate my eyes by taking these too much?
Yes you can. Use the eyedrops as prescribed so that the eyes have a rest period inbetween applications and there have a chance to heal. Constant saturation with medication will not be good for them, particularly if you are using steroid eyedrops.
If you use too much stuff on your eyes they may become sore and painful it's usually best to ask your local doctor what may be best for your eyes i use daily eyedrops called optrex and it usually says not to apply more than 2 or 3 drops to your eyes daily
